The Upside of Freelancing on UpWork: Strange Contracts

A previous post addresses some of the relative downsides of UpWork and freelancing, mainly alarming demands for contracts at well below minimum wage. Charles Dickens wrote a book about these types of people called Great Expectations.

This time around it is the off the wall, unusual and zany posts that I see from time to time (daily….hourly) from people wanting you to sit their exam to shipping medicine from one country to another. I’ll reiterate that there are many legitimate and professional people on Upwork offering reasonable contracts for freelancers.

The ones below however, are not those people. They range from the wonderfully naïve to people who seem to be at some stage of a breakdown or simply unable to find a better method for their need. I’ve yet to see a hitman/woman for hire, but I remain hopeful.
